FR-AI / ANALYSIS

Why it is worth attention

It combines a high-performance Rust core, multi-source adapter support (GitHub, Docker, language registries, OS repos), and offline privacy-preserving GeoIP in a single self-hosted solution.

Who it is for

  • System administrators managing internal mirrors
  • Development teams needing fast local package access
  • Organizations requiring access control and traffic accounting
  • Self-hosters wanting to reduce bandwidth and latency

Use cases

  • Accelerating software downloads within a company or lab network
  • Providing offline access to language package registries (npm, PyPI, etc.)
  • Caching Docker/OCI images to avoid rate limits and speed up deployments
  • Controlling access to external repositories with IP-based rules and quotas

Strengths

  • Written in Rust for performance and low resource usage
  • Adapter-based architecture supports many common source types out of the box
  • Built-in admin console with React front end for easy management
  • Offline ip2region database ensures IP location privacy without external calls

Considerations

  • Self-hosted deployment requires maintenance and infrastructure
  • SQLite backend may not scale to very high traffic without tuning
  • Adapters are limited to those officially supported; adding custom ones requires development

README quick start

MirrorProxy

English | 简体中文

MirrorProxy is a self-hosted mirror proxy platform written in Rust. The mirrorproxy-server service embeds its React administration console, while the standalone mirrorproxy client manages package sources on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Its adapter-based proxy core supports GitHub, Docker/OCI, language package registries, developer toolchains, and operating-system repositories. SQLite provides accounts, quotas, traffic accounting, regional reports, and IP/CIDR access control; offline ip2region databases keep IP location private and fast.
