Why it is worth attention

It provides a completely free, offline, and transparent method to switch DJI controllers from CE to FCC mode, with no licensing, tracking, or server dependencies, and uses open, editable JSON command profiles.

Who it is for

  • DJI drone pilots using RC2, RC Pro 2, or RC Plus controllers
  • Hobbyists wanting higher transmission power and more channels
  • Enterprise drone operators needing 4G activation on compatible aircraft
  • Developers and researchers interested in DJI's DUML protocol

Use cases

  • Enable FCC mode on DJI controllers to extend video transmission range
  • Send 4G activation frames to enterprise drones (e.g., Mavic 4 Pro, Matrice 350)
  • Control aircraft arm LEDs via the app
  • Query controller hardware and firmware version information

Strengths

  • Open-source under AGPL-3.0 with inspectable and editable JSON command profiles
  • Completely offline operation – no internet, server, or tracking required
  • No activation license, trial, or in-app purchases
  • Supports multiple DJI controllers (RC2, RC Pro 2, RC Plus) and drone models

Considerations

  • 4G activation feature is experimental and has not been tested on actual hardware
  • Cannot bypass the 120m C0 class altitude cap enforced by the DJI Fly app
  • Requires a compatible DJI smart controller and may need helper apps for sideloading
